Before you ride to Portimão
- The Museu de Portimão is the old sardine cannery, kept as a cannery and turned into a museum around the machines. It carries a European museum prize and it explains the town better than the beach does.
- Praia da Rocha is effectively a separate place from the old town: high-rise, wide sand, and a long promenade under the cliff.
- Sardines are eaten on the quay at the Doca da Ribeira, grilled, with bread and nothing clever done to them. June and July are the months locals will tell you to come.
